YO! DANCE Steps
Up To A New Beat!
The YO!
Dance is loaded with talented energetic dancers who delivered
an unforgettable performance at theYO!5th Year Gala. The group just started working with Carmen Chavez, a professional choreographer
and one of many volunteer artists of Subject2Change,
a small non-profit organization now operating out of Watts. Ms.Chavez is pushing the crew hard and making members stretch
for new levels of achievement and excellence; the results are clear.
At a rehearsal last month she took the team through
some new and intricate dance moves. The room was filled with energy, excitement, and most important-laughter. Everyone who
attended the rehearsal could see this program will change the lives of many young people in Watts. "We are excited and proud
of what we have accomplished and with the help of Subject2Change we're ready to make things happen!" Stated Laura Anderson of the YO! Dance youth. Someone once said,
"Overcoming barriers to performance is how groups become teams."
This
